Commissioned by Dalry Station Garden Group - installed March 2018 - funded by the ScotRail Foundation managed by Foundation Scotland - extra materials sponsorship from Edinburgh Art Shop.
- This large-scale painting for Dalry Station is my response to Dalry's landscape, buildings and wildlife. On projects like this I start by walking around a town then I explore the countryside beyond. I make drawings as I go and take note of birds and other wildlife I see. These sketches and jottings are really useful when it comes to working on my paintings and writing my blog posts.
- I hope you'll enjoy these scenes as you wait for your train. Binoculars may be helpful as there are at least 26 bird species to spot plus amphibians, insects and mammals - including one famous Ayrshire human! There are local buildings, Blair Estate, Lynn Glen, a long-gone mill. There are moor views including turbines and Caaf Reservoir from the tree-lined avenue at Knockendon. Even higher on the moor there's a sea view with various craft floating among the islands of Little Cumbrae, Great Cumbrae, Arran and the Isle of Bute.
